Hi All, I'm at a loss as to which thread to post this one in! First of all its a tribute to a lovely young man called Tommy Taylor who originated from a tiny village in Co. Kilkenny called Clough. He arrived in the Curragh early in 1975/76 and ended up in the P.A's he made a lasting impression on the young girls of the camp and was commonly known as 'Smiler'because he was always smiling and was friendly and helpful to the children of the camp. He died when the motorbike he was a passenger on collided with a dumper truck down near the tech on the Curragh. His 34th Anniversary was yesterday 22nd Although I was born and raised on the camp I had never gone out with a soldier! then I met Tommy Taylor he was like a breath of fresh air. I forgot his anniversary yesterday the first time that has ever happened. But I would like to remember him today. despite the short time he spent on the Curragh he certainly left a lasting impression. My sincere wishes to his family,May He Rest in Peace Amen. MaryF

my father Seamus McGonagle from Moville servered at Curragh Camp around 1952 and a article was written about 16 people who did a physical training course part of the training was they were put on the mountain glen of imaal where they had to find their way out - and the other was gymnastics. Any another other person have information on this - the article said that one of the captains in charge was Capt Joe O'Keeffe and company sergeant Micky Gray. Thank you.
