Hi John Thanks for the Post. The picture below is of an MP in the Glasshouse, taken in the late 1950's. Do you know him ? This one is somewhere in the Curragh also. Do you know any of their names ? All the best Matt

I joined the army in Jan 1959 and was trained in Connolly Bks (3rd Batt) and on completion of training I was posted to the 3rd Batt, A Coy, I went overseas to the Copngo, with the famous 33rd Batt in Aug 1960 and was stationed in Albertville and a place called Moba, north of Albertville. I returned home in Jan 1961. I served in the 3rd Batt until 1964 when I joined the Depot and School Military Police and served in the Detention Bks until the split up of the Detention Bks staff and the Depot Military Police when I set up MPC HQ in Alexander House, the present HQ. I was promoted to Orderly Room Sgt and later to A/Coy Sgt. Served 21 years and retired on pension in Jan 1980. 808415 Sgt. Whelan P. TEXT

I remember your name very well.

Hello all
My father Noel McDermott (now living in Birmingham England), served as a private in the stores 1954 to 1956, I am to make sure that you know he won the all Ireland cross country in 1956! He has told us many times how he was the All Ireland Champion! and we have the pictures to prove it...anyway, it would be fab to hear from anyone who worked with my father during this time. thank you, Mary.

hello all
apparently I got the detail wrong re my father Noel McDermott, he is dictating to me now, so here goes, "I was Curragh Command and All Army Cross Country Senior Champion, whilst in Clark Barracks for two year, I then left the Army and rejoined in Dublin, in Collin's Barracks for a further three years, whilst there I ran for the Civil Service Harriers which I won the All Ireland Youth Cross Coutry Championship. '54 to '59. I ran with John Kelly with Civil Service, Jim McLoughlin, Paddy Melhorn(very close to running four minute mile)". So, any messages please get in touch. thank you. Mary and Noel.
