Hi all, I've certainly enjoyed browsing through the posts here for the past hour or so. Born in 1953 and lived in Plunkett Villas 'till around 1961 when the Dad, Eamon Walsh, retired from the 4th Motor Sqdn. We moved several times till '63 when we finally moved to Co. Mayo. Very fond and happy memories of my young life in the Camp. Peter

Hello all, I lived in 4 F block Ceannt circa 1956 and also in 15 A block McDonagh. My father was CQMS in McDonagh Bks. In 1959 we moved to Kilkenny. I have discovered a photo of the Synnott family on the occasion of a Confirmation circa 1954-56. The photo includes Philip, Marie, Patsy, Michael and their father Tom. The Synnotts lived at 3 F block Ceannt but later moved to the warrent officers houses in Plunkett. If anyone is in touch with the Synnotts and canget me an e-mail or address I will forward the photo to them. I also have a school phot of Luke Kelly who lived in Ceannt around the same era. Luke's father was unfortunately killed in an auto accident in the Congo. Regards JJcurran

Hi JJ Curran. I do hope Jude is keeping well, tell him that I enquired about him and hopefully he is also well. The last time that I met a member of your family was about 30 years ago, when I had to bring a Fire Engine from the Curragh Camp to Islandbridge for repair, I think it may have been Jude. (The memory starting to slip at this stage). Myself and Ants O Brien knock around together and I will tell him that I am in contact with you and Doney Bolger, who as you can see has also found the Forum, glad to have you on board. Cheers and best wishes. JoeyK (Up Pearse)!

Hi Joek, JJ here, My brother Jude is alive and kicking in spite of smoking at least 40 a day, and that’s after a by-pass. With regard to the man you met in Island Bridge 30 yrs ago, it was probably Sean Curran who lived in no. 6 McDonagh until 1959. He is not related to me. He was a mechanic in Island Bridge. He has brothers Barney and Charley. It’s a small world as Sean eventually wound up working along side me here in Athlone for the last 27 years. Both of us retired last September. We are good friends. Next time I see him I will ask him about you. Regards JJ

Hi JJ Glad to hear that Jude is still going strong and puffing away, I didn't know that there were two Currans living in Mc Donagh, and the chap that I met in Islandbridge (Sean) I thought that he was a brother of Yourself and Jude, (Mystery solved). I remember Charley for some reason also, hope you and all are well. Cheers for now. Up the Curragh! and Up Pearse! Regards Joey Kelly
