We lived in connoly for a while I would only have been a baby when we moved to number 11 B Block McDonagh and about five when we moved to 5 A Block McDonagh during those years these are the families that would have come and gone "shifted" in and out of McDonagh: Tyrells, Warrens, Dillons(paddy),Christies, Whelans, Duhigs, Walkers, O'Driscolls, Kavanaghs (Skip) Cummins, Donoghues, Ahearns, Steadmans, Miss O'Brien (teacher) Mick O'Brien, Bill O'Brien, Johnny O'Brien, heffernans, Ivers, Drurys, Fogartys, Micko Kelly The Dog Kelly, Prices, Gannons, Gormans, Dick and Monica Dunne, Harpurs, Mick Prendergast, Jimmy Prendergast, Roddys, O'Neills, Bolgers, Neenans, Plumps McCormack, Talbots, Dolans, Ambroses, Hayes, Hanleys, Mullins, Cowleys, O'Sheas (Dinny) OSheas (Frank) Clearys, Sheridans, Brennans, McCarneys, and not forgetting our family Smiths. Lived all of my life until I was twenty one in McDonagh, was always raging as a child that we never seemed to shift, you did not move house on the camp then you shifted, all your wordly goods stacked up on the back of an army lorry. OOps nearly forgot the Gillespies. Rose Dunphy(Smith)

We lived in Kent before we moved to the posh houses in McDonagh. The number was 5 E Block, Neighbors were Ambroses, Flynn, Dear, Luke kelly, Johnny Flynn, I think the Synott family lived behind us, also George and Mrs O'Neill thats all I can remember must have been around 1950 + or so.

Ceannt: Synotts lived in the first block /1st doorway facing the school. Luke Kelly lived a few doors further along the row near Kanes, with Nagles at one end and Reillys at the side end facing Connelly. Quinns and Farrells lived in the middle block. Kearneys, Powells, Mc Mahons and Tobins all lived in the two back blocks.

Thanks for those names,I think Mr Byrne lived nextdoor to us. There was a coal yard at the bottom of the hill as you came out the door, I remember being chased by the PAs [on many occasions] who followed me into the yard and I locked them in.
