Dont know any of the kids, but I can see my house in the Background - it was me mother and fathers first married quarters and it went on fire !!! drying clothes by the fire and a lump of coal popped out. We had gone visiting to my Granny in Kilcullen and when they came home the house was on fire - my father burst into th house to save his prize posession - a wedding photo ? a family heirloom ? his savings book ? - not on your nellie, it was a TV they were buying from McGinns on HP. No one was hurt we were moved to another house in Ceannt and the TV lasted until 1974 despite the scorch marks it lasted until the arrival of the Colour TV in 1974 - again bought on HP from McGinns

And it was very sad about Collette, so young.

Does anyone have info on the great family who lived in Ceannt. JJ, Mick and Rita Tennison. I think they moved to Dublin. The lads were good hurlers.

Trying to discover if any of the Rooney family remain in the Curragh or if anyone know their whereabouts. Perer Rooney, a Dublin native, was a Sergeant in the MPC and like myself, served with the MPC at both Haulbowline and Spike Island before transferring to the Curragh during the Internment Camp era of the 1950's. Peter's wife was a Downey, native of Cobh, Co. Cork. The last known address for the Rooney family was at Ceannt M.Qrs., Curragh. Many thanks. Limerick

Hi Limerick In answer to your query, None of the Rooney's are living in the Curragh Now, Marie one of the Daughters is living in Newbridge and I meet her quiet often. Peter the Son is sadly deceased he was a Sgt in Artillery Kildare, and sadly his Son passed on tragically only a few weeks ago, The eldest Daughter is married to a former Bandsman with the No 1 Army Band and I think then went to the No 3 Army Band in Cork, his name was Fitzy Fitzpatrick.
Hope this answers your query. Cheers and all the best. JoeyK

Seems all my former colleagues, in this case most of the Rooney people, have passed to their Eternal reward. I must surely be getting old!!
Sincere thanks for the update.
