Hi Maura,
When we were kids Eileen Walker (Carter Pearse) would tell us that Mrs. Collins had taught her in school, I used wonder how Mrs. Collins could stay going I imagined her to be so old.
My first day I did'nt cry just sat in awe of all around me, had Miss Reynolds, she was lovely, do remember the smell of the school filling my nostrils, damp coats, the toilets, chalk dust, turf smoke, marla, even the copies and books had the same smell.
I do remember Monica making me walk on front of her to and from school, the thumps she gave me to get a move on, she liked to be in the yard well before the bell went, running in the gate as it rang suited me, we are both still the same by the way, minus the thumps.
Skip Kavanagh would collect Teresa, Mag, Edward and Lar on wet days, the little car he had could just about carry them, but he always managed to squeeze all the kids from the front block into the car, we would be so delighted with the spin, we did'nt care that we were sitting on someones knee with someone else on our knee.
Rose.

Hi Andy,
I really dont know what I am doing wrong? Each time I enter something it wont allow me to enter as Marykeaneclarke but I must have entered as another name before and forgot!!! Which does not surprise me!!! However I will get the hang of it soon hopefully - I am nearly addicted to this site now - it is brilliant. Many thanks

Mary, I didn't know Mary Edgar at all, so it was interesting to find out about her existence. I didn't even know that Johnny had been married!! .. Would love to have Monica's number, I didn't get round to ringing Joan yet. Our 19 year old border collie died today, she had been very ill this last couple of weeks so we had her put out of her misery - the hardest decision I have ever had to make! Broken hearted of course!

hi Jacqi,
Yes there were 3 Edgar girls - Irene, Maggie and Mary - I remember the day they moved to England - like many a family on the Curragh - some you saw again and some you did'nt but I never forgot them nevertheless because we have that special connection with one another. I must say I was very fortunate to see you again and now we are in contact after all those years.
Very sorry to hear about your dog - I know you treat them like humans and they almost become like humans after time.
Take care and talk soon.

JACQUELINE,
Did Archie Carter lodge with the Edgar's at some stage or did Archie have his own house, can remember Mam telling us a story about No. 11, Dad was on duty, she had put Monica (baby at the time) to bed and went down to get the clothes from the line, when she returned she heard snoring in the front room and when she went in, I always thought she said Archie was asleep on the couch, but it must have been Johnny, as Brian was telling me in a post that Archie did'nt drink, anyway she had to get your Dad to wake him up and bring him up to his own house, the chap was so under the weather he had went into the wrong house. I remember Irene and Maggie. Margaret Kavanagh was saying in a post that she bumped into one of the girls in London.
Again sorry to hear about the dog.
Rose.

I always seem to think there is some connection between Johnny and Archie, maybe Brian can enlighten me again.

Hello Rose Greetings from around the corner, had to answer yr request, Archie did live with Johnny Edgar, they both drank an just wanted peace, Archie nearly always was in Newbridge and his dog knew what time the bus came, every evening the dog was waiting at the bus stop for Archie, when Archie died the dog pined away until he died, u could hear him howling all over McDonagh, now thats love. Johnny was always reading an drinking the stout, me an Monice an Jennifer, think Sheila Brennan as well, well we were always calling in as he would let us smoke a few cigs. Lovely Gents Archie an Johnny r.i.p.

HI joan,
I remember Archie and the dog, think Archie passed away in 68, I do remember his funeral and seeing him laid out, dragged in by my Da.
I also remember calling Johnny Edgar, Johnny Egger as I thought that was his name.
What miserable weather for the June week-end and me off to Killarney to-morrow for a few days with work.
Rose.

Hi Mary, I don't know why you are not being promoted Perhaps Matt can assist you? I know you are logged in so it is only a minor matter. All the best, Anne.

First of all Andy, that joke bout doggie Heaven, well what can I say, I'm off to Lourdes next week so I will say a prayer for u, with jokes like that u need one. Mary I'm a Corporal for years, its not fair,I'm looking for promotion, I have'nt even got a key ring, anyway its better than been a guest forever. Maybe Rose could help us, she's a very high rank. Or Matt, he started it.
