Hi Rose, Kathy0, Joan, Just reading the posts from 'Growing Up In Pearse' , the Kelly Boys are remembering all of their neighbours and which block they lived in. We can't have them beating us 'McDonagh' - now I know you all have amazing memoriesy, so maby between ourselves, and any others who lived in McDonagh - we can name as many of our neighbours as possible - are you up for it??? In the middle block, I remember the O'Brien's, Kellys, Neenans, Us, O'Shea's, Bolgers, , Gormans, ??, Harpers. Third block, Heffernans, ??, Ivers, O'Shea's, O'Neills, ??, Brennan's - that's all from me for now but am putting my thinking cap on. Up McDonagh!!! Eileen

Hi Andy,
There was that much shifting around going on, could name several more that lived in McDonagh, e.g. Sammons, Currans, Gillespies, Lyons, Pembrokes, Bartleys, Mullins Gerry, Gannon Paddy, Potts (Mickey) Hanleys, Lil Burke Nee Gorman Tereasa Power nee Kavanagh (skip). We had the O'Sheas two families Frank And Dinny. Cowleys graced Gormans house from the back block when they moved out. Phil and Scotchie Harrington lived in the middle block for a spell, Margeurite Cowley lived in the middle block after she married.
McCuskers lived in Kavanaghs before they moved in and Whelans in Christies.
The only time we shifted they carried the few chattels from the middle to the front block, never had the excitement of the army lorry arriving.
Rose.

Rose.
We had the pleasure of shifting trice, younger people reading the word shifting will have a different take on the word, back to the scéal the only thing we coud put on the truck was ourselves, and the bucket be lost without the bucket

Hi Joey,
I did'nt forget Micko if you look at the post again you will see he is listed, how could I forget the best M C Mcdonagh mess ever saw. Katamandu was his party piece, and your Dad's at the time was "Swimmin with the Wimmin" and of course "I do like a little bit". Your Da used to rise the hell out of Miko in the mess with the Noble Calls.

Hi All,
Rose, you blow me away with your fantastic memory - it's so good to see the names in print which jogs my memory and I can actually remember them. I wonder does anyone know who moved into our house when we left in 1969. When we first lived there it was No. 18B Block, then for some reason (I don't know why) the same house changed number and it was 32 McDonagh Tce.

Re:GROWING UP IN McDONAGH-THINGS I REMEMBER Hi Eileen in the 80s it was decided to change the name from married quarters to pearse/mcdonagh terraces also Curragh camp was done away with to THE CURRAGH, hence from where the change in house numbers came about so instead of living in a b type house you just lived in a house which ran from no1 to no40 hoping that this clears up the mystery in some way ps add in Eileen Murphy bottom block,(spud) bye for now johnny

Hi Tommy, Can't speak for Eileen But I'm impressed with your detective work top marks. So nice to see the way all you Pearse Lads are helping the McDonagh ladies out with names of families for houses, co-operation between barracks/married quarters lovely to see But Rose was doing a fabulous job on her own and without a doubt would have named every single resident given a little more time lads!!
