Hi all Just going through the 1911 Census of Ireland. Looking up the Kildare area, I discovered that my Grandmother Amelia Searle shown as living in Beresford Barracks the Curragh. Now known as Ceannt Married Quarters or what is left of it. The Census shows that my Grandmother was then aged 29 had three children, John aged three, Francis aged 18 months and Elaine aged 2 months. Amelia is shown as the then head of the house. It also shows her birthplace as having been born in India. The reason for this is that My Grandfather John Kelly was still serving in India with the 2nd Battalion the Connaught Rangers, (known as the Devils Own). My Grandparents John and Amelia were married in India in January 1907. I am still trying to fill in a few missing years. It is a pity that the Married Quarters as listed by Tommy Sweeney only begins in the 1920s. So it can be taken as granted that The Kelly family has been associated with the Curragh Camp since 1911. More than 100 years. True Shadower's indeed. Regards JoeyK

Hi Matt Thanks for posting the photographs of My Grandfather John Kelly, from Balla Co Mayo. When he served with the Military Police he was nicknamed the Rajah, I wonder why, he actually survived to receive two pensions from the BA and the Irish Army. Again thanks for publishing. More to follow. JoeyK
