I attended the youth club held in the Gaelic Hall in my early teens (approx '84). At the time Paul Shine (RIP) was the chairperson and put his heart and soul into the running of it. Does anyone know who started the first youth club?? I do remember Scobie Smith doing the discos but not sure if that was related to the club.

I remember the gaelic hall discos too. Don't know what year it would have been. But Paul Shine (R.I.P) and Jimmy Quirke used to do the discos. I remember there was a talent show up there one night, think Jimmy Quirke ran it. And it was for the worst singer. Does anyone else remember it? Remember taking part, the one and only time I sang anywhere. My God I wouldn't do it now.

I'd love to see some photos of the old youth club gang. Racking my brain about the miming concert, must have known of it but can't recall it. Is there a way of posting up photos. Matt if you read this, please advise.

Hi Anita
In answer to your question about the posting of photographs. If you can scan them and e-mail them to me I can then upload them to the Curragh.info site. From there I can place a link to the photo to the forum here for all to see.
E-mail them to web@curragh.info
All the best
Matt

Hi Anita, The youth club I rem was started by a group of people I mentioned in peope who made a difference " Saus Kelly's mam and dad, Mrs Fogarty, Lily and Paddy Slattery, Paddy Phillips and more I cannot rem.The Youth club became part of the Kildare Federation of Youth Clubs(KFYC) The club ran well for many years and faded away before John Otley took control his main goal was towards speech and drama. Later I became chairman helped by Caroline Kelly and Paul Shine. We became working members on The KFYC. Paul then took control for a few years and after that i do not know what happened to the club. Regards Tommy H
