Hi Marian,
Remember the Egan's from my youth Andy used to go to the Hops in the Curragh, a big Family.
They also lived in Carna Cottages in Suncroft I did not know them then.
But if you get on to the Museum in Tullow Town one of Andy's brothers worked there for some time am sure they have an address for him.
Afraid no further info on my behalf, but you will come across them in the Married Quarters section this will give you some dates, plus possibly your grand dads Army Number and Rank, using that you can get a copy of his records from Cathal Brugha.
Best of luck Andy

Hi Marian welcome to the forum You also have an aunt bridie, i remember pj jimmy and andy well from our dancing youth at the hops in the Curragh and Newbridge.PJ was in the signals corp, and andy was in plunckett(the cavalry) cant remember Jimmy being in the army.as andy brennan said have a look in the married quarters section on this forum and you should be able to get some info on your family for future search.I will check the units in the Curragh for photos of any of the lads, but with most units disbanded in the last couple of years these may be hard to come by, but will give it a try for you. bye for Johnny Kelly

Hi Marian, yep P.J came to me later, You might like also to look at the 1922 military census an Egan serving in the Curragh that year I think it may have being a Michael, free to search census as is the 1911 national one with other years also free to search.
You never know what Kel might dig up in the Curragh.
Regards
Andy
OOPs go on to the defence forces site you will get the contact details for Cathal Brugha Bks Dublin.
Lots more stuff on that site also free to search.

Hi Marian paid a visit around the Camp yesterday and today trying to trace any photos or information on your uncles so far drawing a blank but some sources still to be seen to, a couple of people that would have known the lads also rummaging through their archives searching hopefully with success so fingers crossed and hoping. as i said with so many Units CLOSED and disbanded it will be hard to trace anything. Joey if he has gotten over the defeat of his beloved bubble blowing Hammers should have a look into his archives maybe a photo will come from his past. bye for now Johnny

Hi Marion,
its James your aunty Bridies son.
I came across this link by chance. I've scanned pics of granny & grandad but only of their wedding.
Let me know if you would like copies, I'm sure we can arrange something.
Take care James

Hi Lynx
Copy of, Margaret's Death Certificate available free on Irish Genealogy.ie civic records. might not further you info as it only gives her age 43, date of accident, and death, married but no further info on husband. also free this week end only, on find my past again that is the extent of info. Beamish seems to be a Cork name as many are from there, four names from Kildare 1901 census.
