Mary Keane,
I understand your late Dad was Paddy Keane and your family lived at Clarke M.Qrs. The Glenila Ceili Band was part of your lives and mine with Frank Brennan and Mick McCoy.
Hope I am correct?

Hi Johnny, it's Mary Edgar from Australia. Only new to this and not sure what I am doing or how I am doing it. I knew all the families you mentioned plus Mary Murphy, my friend her brothers Thomas and Jerry. Hate to admit but I'v forgotten loads of people but then I have left the Curragh for nearly 50 years.
Say hello to you Ma and the rest of the family.
Bye. Mary.

I see our newest member is Eithne Hynes, I am taking it that it's Eithne that used to live in Clarke, and which I only discovered in the last year or two from Larry Houlihan that she is his sister.
Welcome to the forum Eithne, I remember you and your family well, from days spent in Clarke with Gertie and Tom Coyle.

hi here I am only answering now yes my sister is Liz and my brother was Liam who sadly passed away 30 odd years ago. I remember growing up on the Curragh - we lived only in Clarke in all of the blocks = first memory was downstairs (as we referred to in those days) in the middlle block, we lived beside Murphy's (one side) and Martins (the otherside). There were the Farrells, Fennells, Coughlans, O'Neills and each and everyone of them were terrific neighbours. I have never experienced anyone like them and I doubt if I ever will not in my lifetime anyway....... New People moved in and people you had grown up with moved to another location on the Camp or elsewhere but there was always that special connection. From one Curragh resident to another. When I think of the size of the house we all fitted into and the toilets down the end of the block, the ashbins (as they were called) that served and facilitated about 10 families. The privilege of having not one but two cinemas (picture houses) the largest swimming pool in Ireland (at the time) a Gym. We were certainly unique. A few of us met up recently and the craic was mighty, the memories just flowed - I met a girl I went to school with nearly 50 years ago and had not seen her in 47 years and it was super. Where would you get that instant connection anyway hopefully there will be more to come. Mary K.
