The following images of a Silver Platter presented to Fr. James Hamilton were sent to me by John Crabbe in the USA Hi, I have attached two pictures of a large sterling silver platter presented to a Rev. James Hamilton. The platter was made by James Fray, a Dublin silversmith. This particular item was made in 1828. I am not sure of the year it was presented to Rev. Hamilton. I hope you can use the photos. I am looking for any information about this chaplain. Sincerely, John Crabbe USA PPESENTED TO THE Rev’d James Hamiliton R.C. CHAPLAIN TO THE TROOPS BY HIS Friends and Admirers at the Curragh Camp and its vicinity. AS A MARK OF THEIR DEEP SENSE OF HIS Many good amiable (unknown word) Christian like qualities
I done some research for John and came up with the following information. Fr. James Hamilton was a Kerryman and a Graduate St. Patrick’s College Carlow and priest of the dioceses . He opened the first baptismal register for the Curragh Camp Garrison Church in January 1855. Matt
