Hi All

I was contacted today by The Curragh Ladies Group who hoping to put together a book on the life of a soldiers wife in the Curragh Camp down through the years. They are hoping to launch the book on International Women's Day, March 8th 2010. All proceeds from the book will go to a local charity. The ladies want to the book to be an account of their time married to the army and rearing a family on a military camp. This can be as far back as the 1940’s to the 1990’s and they want your help. This can take the form of short stories and things which happened down through the years.

They have expressed an interest in some of the stories that have popped up in the forum over the last few years and hope the some of that subscribers to the forum will put pen to paper, so to speak and give their memories or on behalf of their mothers.

I am acting as a go between at the moment for the ladies and will pass on any information you send me to them. The articles will be proof read and formatted for the book.

They also hope to use some of the family / community photographs from the site which have been submitted over the years. I mention this, so that people will be aware. If you have sent me such a photograph and do not want it in the book, please contact me.

Anyhow that is enough from me and I wish the ladies all the best with this project. I know The Curragh Sprit will fall in behind this and I hope to hear from you and your stories.

Best Regards

Matt

Hi Matt and All,

Saw a book to-day "50 Years Through the Lens" by Oliver McCrossan. Apparently its been on sale since July. The Camp and Defence Forces get great coverage as does Newbridge/Kildare and surrounding areas. Worth a look.

Cheers,

Rose.
